Masterson’s Lounge, situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my most recent experience at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I experienced behind its doors was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The Condition of the Premises : Grimy and Neglected
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was immediately obvious that upkeep was not a priority at this establishment . The surfaces were tacky , and a pungent odor of decaying beverages and dirty bathrooms polluted the entire venue . Smelling a mixture of human waste, a rotting odor and illness . The serving zone , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and refuse that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The lavatory was in even more deplorable shape — spilling over , with a shattered handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was fecal matter .

Going through other patrons’ reviews and conversing with residents , it seems that the state of cleanliness (or lack thereof) at Masterson’s is a recurring complaint. Many guests have reported witnessing insects darting across the counter and traces of mice in additional reading the adjoining rooms. As I investigated further , I was alarmed to find reports against him involving misconduct , with multiple women accusing him of sending unsolicited explicit content . Described as excessively forward and boundary-crossing , his behavior has created an unsafe article environment for women who visit Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often felt more like that of a predatory presence than a welcoming host .
